Spread across the top two floors of a Victorian villa is a loft-style renovation by architects David Connor and Kate Darby. The expansive open-plan reception room is characterised by textures of glass, metal and wood. A glass ceiling pours natural light into the space and retracts, creating an ethereal atmosphere.

A low-hanging shelf constructed of riveted metal stretches across the room, adding an industrial edge. Two modern fireplaces delineate the space between living and dining while integrated storage and reading nooks recess visual noise into the walls. Punctuated by strips of glass that share light with the level below, parquet flooring wears a red hue and flows into the kitchen. This space features pared-back cabinetry, integrated appliances and stainless-steel worktops. A ladder leads up to a generous roof terrace with views over the Notting Hill roofscape.

The principal bedroom is a calming whitewashed space pairing period proportions with modern design sensibilities. This room features two large sash windows, bespoke joinery and a stylish en suite bathroom. The home features two further bedrooms, one of which could be used as a study. Each enjoys natural light, fitted storage and hardwood flooring. A family bathroom can also be accessed via the first guest bedroom and benefits from a bathtub, bidet and mosaic tiles.
