Hold onto your Akubra, Brisbane’s about to surprise you!
Located in Fortitude Valley and named after the corner streets it sits on, Alfred & Constance is a quirky, eclectic and sensational warren of delights with a design philosophy of more is more. Set within two traditional tongue-and-groove timber buildings that have been joined together, this multi-purpose space incorporates a café, a gastro pub and a series of hidden little bars tucked around corners, nooks and crannies.
The designer is Argentinian-born Alexander Lotersztain, who wanted to ensure visitors didn’t feel lost or disorientated and so created numerous areas with distinct designs to keep it intimate while also playful. Inside you have themes of vintage junk chic and retro cool, more akin to where your parents probably once drank. There’s the tropical sun-drenched White Lightning Tiki Bar; a decadently gothic blacktiled space complete with chandeliers and a skeleton; and then relaxed al-fresco city vibes at the typically Australian Vanguard Beer Garden & Restaurant.
Is there anything this place doesn’t offer? We love it!
