Situated close to the pretty town of Santa Gertrudis in Ibiza, Las Cicadas is one of Ibiza’s top villa stays. A well-kept secret until now, this beautiful, serene ‘boutique villa’ attracts a host of high-profile names from the music and fashion world, including the globally acclaimed fashion designer Isabel Marant, Marcelo Burlon and DJ and producer Maceo Plex.
Spread over 10,000 square metres of land, with 6 spacious en-suite bedrooms, a beautiful swimming pool and jacuzzi, two kitchens and a barn, the property was originally a 600-year-old farmhouse. Since then it has been sensitively renovated and now provides stunning villa accommodation for up to 12 people.
Las Cicadas is surrounded by mature-lawned gardens which overlook the mountains. Shade is provided by ancient olive, fig and fruit trees – including apricots, oranges, lemons and avocados. Las Cicadas produce their own olive oil and they even have their own farm shop on the land where many of the local chefs pop in to purchase produce.
Inside the villa, warm terracotta Spanish floor tiles and whitewashed original stone walls frame light-filled interiors that lend themselves to a design aesthetic that embraces a super-relaxed pared back look. There are stylish mid-century modern furnishings, big squashy sofas and shelves full of books to help you feel at home. The interior inspiration influences give a nod to traditional Ibicencan meets vibrant new Mexican, with a splash of contemporary style. Furnishings at Las Cicadas are vintage finds, with one-off pieces scouted from markets, auctions and artisans from all over the world.
The concept of Las Cicadas was born from my love of sharing my home with good people.
- Travis Bluschman, owner
“The concept of Las Cicadas was born from my love of sharing my home with good people. I grew up in a big farmhouse in the north of Ibiza and we always had guests staying with us. Musicians, writers, drifters, mystics, freaks and hippies… Our house was always open, and we were richer for it. I was inspired by these people from a young age and have always kept my doors open since then. The idea behind Las Cicadas was to create a place for like-minded people. A refuge from the over-commercialized, over-crowded, over-hyped places in Ibiza. If you know, you know…”
