Villas for rent that reconnect with nature. We take a deep dive into the landscape design behind these standout exteriors.

It’s easy to picture Ibiza in whitewashed tones and glittering seas. But look closer, and it’s the green that endures. Pine forests, native shrubs, wild herbs – the island’s natural abundance is a constant companion. For many villa owners and landscape designers, this lushness is more than a backdrop: it’s a source of inspiration and a call to tread lightly.

Across our portfolio of standout Ibizan villas for rent, gardens have been shaped by the island’s unique microclimate, rural heritage, and ecological rhythm. From the pine-carpeted hills of Es Cubells to the fruit-filled groves of the north, these outdoor spaces embrace biodiversity and beauty in equal measure – places to slow down, switch off and reconnect.

Can Olivar, San Lorenzo

There are exceptional exteriors, and then there are the grounds at Can Olivar. Lush, layered and bursting with colour, this unrivalled setting has been carefully conceived – yet channels a carefree, countryside spirit. Designed by Martín Toimil, it’s easy to step into the slow rhythm of rural Ibiza here. A 120-square-metre heated pool is laid in natural stone, framed by a vast sun terrace and fully equipped outdoor kitchen – ideal for long, al-fresco days.

Planting is generous and vibrant: think olive groves, citrus trees and a secret garden that changes with the seasons. A volleyball court, shaded yoga deck and dedicated play area give the outdoor space broad appeal, from wellness escapes to family holidays. At every turn, the landscape invites engagement. “It’s a garden that lives and breathes,” Martín notes. “Somewhere to explore, relax and feel grounded in nature.”

Can Olivar is available to rent from €34,350 per week.

Finca Alma, South Ibiza

Finca Alma homeowners India and Victor are passionate nature enthusiasts. “We were fortunate enough to inherit a beautiful plot that used to be a water torrent,” says Victor of their home, which is sequestered in a pine-clad valley carved by flowing water centuries ago. “We endeavoured to preserve its originality by incorporating the existing trees, while lovingly adding new components.”

The four-acre plot was ripe for landscaping creativity. Working alongside The Blue Pearl, a sustainably focused design agency, the couple was able to combine local and international planting to mesmerising effect. You’ll find traditional Ibicenco pines alongside Australian Fincus evergreens and dramatic San Pedro cacti, a plant deeply entwined with Andean rituals and traditional medicine. Architecture and nature exist in harmony here, too. In the outdoor dining area, the stone paving was carefully engineered around the existing palms.

At around 850 years old, the home’s oldest tree sits in the designated Japanese Garden. “It’s almost mystical. You can meditate next to ‘him’ on the yoga deck or admire it through the window of the Aito sauna,” says Victor. For the gastronomes, there’s also an array of citrus trees and pomegranates. “To top it off, we harvest black pepper and produce our own olive oil, thanks to a dozen olive trees.”

Finca Alma is available to rent from €31,050 per week.

“We love trees and how they communicate with each other. It’s like they have their own little society.”

Villa Estilo, San Lorenzo

Drawing influence from the Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech and the surrounding Ibizan topography, Villa Estilo’s garden blends cultivated drama with rustic charm. Designed by landscape architect Martín Toimil, the grounds are a study in balance: electric-blue walls, cypress-lined pathways and herbaceous borders contrast with the rural valley beyond.

More than 60 plant varieties surround the saltwater pool, ensuring a setting that’s alive with texture, colour and wildlife year-round. Birds, butterflies and insects abound, while tall planting creates shaded hideaways throughout the garden. “The challenge for us was to integrate such a sophisticated garden into this rural landscape of fruit orchards and farmhouses. We carefully selected species to produce a well-balanced environment that’s both stylish and rustic,” says Martin.

Deciduous trees were chosen to offer shade in summer and sun in winter, while native species like olive, almond and fig trees honour the land’s agricultural history. For all its design flair, Villa Estilo’s garden remains grounded in place: a sanctuary that complements, rather than competes with, its natural setting. “Everyone can find their own different corner, each with its own personality,” muses Martín. “Mine is a tree swing – you can simply sit and take in the amazing view of the garden.”

Can Xita, South West Ibiza

An undeniable connection with the outdoors prevails at Can Xita, where captivating grounds have been conceived by Terravita. “The best architect in the world and the greatest teacher is nature herself,” asserts the studio’s co-founder, Jason Watson Todd.

From sleek, contemporary interiors, glass doors give way to terraces and natural textures that reflect the surrounding hillside – no matter where you are. “You want to work in harmony with the setting, to pull nature into the architecture, rather than working against it,” Jason adds.

Also a year-round backdrop for reunions, the grounds are set up to host occasions with ease. Gaze across the crystalline waters of Cala Jondal from the 25m heated swimming pool, then dry off on the swing seats by the fully-equipped outdoor bar. Settle down for a movie in the outdoor cinema, or turn up the volume on the Sonos system – the trees are your only neighbours here.

Can Xita is available to rent from €87,000 per week.

Casa Chumbera, Es Cubells

Completely nestled in its natural surroundings, a crop of pine trees surrounds Casa Chumbera’s walled 65,000 sq m plot to lend a feeling of seclusion – and a starting point for Portugal-based designers Nina Gardens, landscaper Teresa Mendia Vieira and architect Duarte Mendia Vieira who helped craft the pool house.

“We aimed to make a space that felt both organic and intuitive,” says Isabel Theodora, who runs the garden and floral design studio alongside her mother, Nina, in honour of her grandmother, Mafalda. A creation of collective passion and enterprise, the result is an al fresco space full of varying textures and levels. The ethos is gentle and grounded – indigenous plants reduce water use while encouraging biodiversity, and ancient olive trees double as shade givers and wildlife habitats. A flourishing vegetable patch supplies the kitchen with homegrown produce: a reminder of nature’s cycles and the joys of slower living. “We were mindful of the existing architecture and materials,” reflects Isabel. “It’s our way of respecting nature.”

At the heart of the garden, the villa’s namesake chumbera cacti stand tall like sculptural totems. Viewed through the floor-to-ceiling glazing, they blur the line between indoors and out. ““My favourite aspect of the island is its authentic style,” says Isabel. “Where traditional buildings meet the natural beauty of the landscape.”

“Working as a family is an incredibly rewarding experience. Our bond translates into a strong desire to deliver our best to clients, ensuring each project is handled with personal care and dedication.”

Villa Vista, North Ibiza

When Samiya Sahabdeen first discovered the derelict farmhouse that would become Villa Vista, the estate was being slowly reclaimed by nature. “There was nothing to see,” she recalls. “But I knew instantly it was the one.” Today, that same wilderness defines its spirit. Surrounded by 30 acres of forested land, the villa’s grounds are a tapestry of secluded seating areas, Mediterranean planting and a walled garden where life slows to an unhurried rhythm.

The infinity pool takes centre stage, flanked by sun loungers and shaded chill-out nooks. Garden pockets – designed in collaboration with Emma Clark, known for King Charles III’s Islamic garden – offer moments of quietude and surprise, from tree-lined walking trails to ocean-view terraces.

“I love that you can come as a group but still find solitude,” says Samiya. “It’s a place where you can hide out, reflect, or walk straight down to the sea.” This is landscape design that supports both togetherness and retreat – deeply connected to the land and to the people who move through it.

Villa Vista is available to rent from €29,800 per week.

Villa Almare, South West Ibiza

Set within a 30,000-square-metre plot overlooking the sea, Villa Almare is a modern finca designed for serenity. Fringed by native trees and dense forest, the villa’s gardens unfold in tiers, guiding you from shaded terraces to an infinity pool with panoramic sunset views.

The outdoor spaces have been shaped to suit every pace of life. There’s a quiet corner for sunrise yoga, a terrace for communal dining, and a veranda with a summer kitchen and barbecue. Sabina wood beams, sun-bleached stone and abundant greenery lend a rustic softness to the architecture.

Wellness is a core theme here. Beyond the gardens, guests can enjoy a sauna, steam room and open-air jacuzzi. But it’s the simplicity of the landscape – its open skies and earthy textures – that leaves a lasting impression. At Villa Almare, nature does the heavy lifting.

Villa Almare is available for rent from €35,000 per week.
