Situated close to the pretty town of Santa Gertrudis, this hacienda-style home is a tranquil island retreat.
A serene boutique villa, Casa del Olivo attracts a host of high-profile names from the music and fashion world, including the globally acclaimed fashion designer Isabel Marant, Marcelo Burlon and DJ and producer Maceo Plex.
Spread over 10,000 square metres of land, with six spacious bedroom suites, a voluminous dining room and a pool with a hot tub, the property was originally a 600-year-old farmhouse. Since then it has been sensitively renovated and now provides stunning villa accommodation for up to 12 people.
Casa del Olivo is surrounded by Mediterranean gardens and mature lawns which overlook the mountains. Shade is provided by ancient olive, fig and fruit trees – including apricots, oranges, lemons and avocados. Casa del Olivo produces its own olive oil and even has its own farm shop on the land where local chefs pop in for fresh produce.
Inside the villa, warm terracotta Spanish floor tiles and whitewashed original stone walls frame light-filled interiors that lend themselves to a design aesthetic that embraces a pared-back look. There are stylish mid-century furnishings, soft sofas and shelves full of books to help you feel at home. The interior inspiration influences nod to traditional Ibicencan meets vibrant new Mexican, with a splash of contemporary style. Furnishings at Casa del Olivo are vintage finds, with one-off pieces scouted from markets, auctions and artisans from all over the world.
“The concept of the villa was born from my love of sharing my home with good people.”
- Travis Buschman, owner
“The concept of the villa was born from my love of sharing my home with good people,” owner Travis Buschman explains. “I grew up in a big farmhouse in the north of Ibiza and we always had guests staying with us. Musicians, writers, drifters, mystics, freaks and hippies… Our house was always open, and we were richer for it. I was inspired by these people from a young age and have always kept my doors open since then. I wanted to create a place for like-minded people. A refuge from the over-commercialised, over-crowded, over-hyped places in Ibiza.”
“If you know, you know,” Travis adds.
Casa del Olivo is available to rent from €20,500 – €24,000 per week
