Panoramic sea and pine forest views steal the show at this Blakstad-designed finca for rent near laid-back San Rafael.

Surveying Ibiza Town and Dalt Vila from its peaceful, hillside spot, there’s a best-of-both-worlds feel to Can Ladera. A collaboration between island architecture studios Blakstad and Ibiza Interiors, a complete renovation in 2022 has retained a sense of the finca’s rustic charm, now elevated with contemporary finishes.

Divided between a main house and a separate guest casita, design elements unite both spaces – think neutral tones, natural materials and restored Sabina wood beams. The result is warm, welcoming and functional – making this a home for all seasons.

The real showstopper, though, is the sprawling Mediterranean garden beyond the finca’s steel-framed doors. Pergolas dot the rolling grounds, providing an array of chill-out zones. The most generous of which plays host to an al fresco lounge, dining and kitchen area, complete with a barbecue, dishwasher and fridge.

Lap up the distant ocean views from the poolside cabana or the sun loungers set under thatched parasols. The inviting saltwater pool has a counter-current system for those who want a more strenuous workout.

Back inside, impressive ceiling heights accentuate the sense of space in the main living quarters, where a standout living and dining room wraps around to a convivial kitchen. A place to entertain with ease, high-spec appliances are ready and waiting for a private chef to assume cooking duties – which can be arranged on request. Note the wine cellar, too.

Pared-back design and soft lighting make all five bedrooms conducive to rest and relaxation. The principal comes with a walk-in wardrobe and luxurious en suite bathroom finished with tactile plaster. Three further en suite bedrooms and a kitchenette are found in an independent guest casita.

The best room in the house, however, is the roof terrace – an ideal spot for a private yoga session. From up here, take in the pine-studded hills in all their glory.
