Producing innovative contemporary architecture, designed with spatial choreography in mind – the experiential qualities and social opportunity of buildings.
Founded in 2011 by Tom and James Teatum, Teatum + Teatum is inspired by the notion that architecture will create interaction and connections to the cultural energy of a city. At every scale, their proposals engage with the urban possibility of the site.
Their work includes new buildings, the reorganisation of existing space, seeking contemporary architecture that interacts with its physical and historic context. Their aim is to create accessible and spatially engaging places for their users, reimagining how proportions and levels can operate and flow in properties. Both directors contribute to teaching in London Universities; Tom Teatum is a unit tutor at Royal College of Art and is a steering group member of the RIBA Building Futures Think Tank.
The Light House is a tranquil lateral apartment, elevated above its surrounding roofscape; the Garden House is a traditional mews home, reimagined with conversations in colours, materials and textures.
At every scale, their proposals engage with the urban possibility of the site.
