A creative studio crafting spaces that sit at the nexus of impeccable form and everyday function. Theirs is a philosophy of designing from the inside out.
Spearheaded by Julia Feix and Tarek Merlin, who were brought together by Will Alsop in the early 2000s, Feix&Merlin Architects are fluent in the nuances of experiential design. Their diverse projects, from a contemporary hotel in Amsterdam North to a warehouse extension in east London, are tied together by a synergy between architecture and interiors. Offering a holistic service, their specialisms extend beyond initial masterplanning.
Placemaking and regeneration, as well community engagement strategies fall within their remit too. Planning applications are a breeze. Since opening their eponymous studio in 2006, the design duo has collaborated with industry-defining names, including Norman Foster and Kelly Hoppen. Other projects include an overhaul of an eight-floor neoclassical frame for private member’s club, The Conduit, and the sympathetic restoration of a Grade II-listed townhouse into a Regency-era boutique hotel.
