The elegance of Holland Park is rooted in its grandiose period properties and eponymous green space, complemented by a welcoming family-friendly community.

This is West London’s most sophisticated neighbourhood, with the 54-acre public gardens at its heart. Holland Park boasts an array of soaring heritage townhouses, many of which are listed and feel akin to the Regency crescents found in Bath. These stucco-fronted buildings are arranged around well-manicured garden squares, kept for the exclusive use of homeowners. Interspersed between the historic streets are mews enclaves that once served as stables and garages for the larger residencies; today, they’re an appealing option for individuals and growing families.

Holland Park Avenue is the central artery of the area, lined with cafés, delicatessens, shops and local pubs. At one end, find a little cluster of independent boutiques along the semi-pedestrianised Clarendon Cross. As for the park itself, it boasts enormous lengths of green space which meet some of London’s most varied cultural spots: the Design and Leighton House Museums, Open Air Opera House and Kyoto Japanese Gardens.

Holland Park

With its winding pathways, mature trees and long stretches of lawn, Holland Park is a calming sanctuary in the city. The expansive grounds are split between a series of smaller gardens: the Kyoto Gardens is focused around a koi pond, complete with a cascading waterfall, Japanese maple trees and roaming peacocks; by contrast, the Dutch gardens have geometric precision, laid with rows of bright tulips in spring and fragrant roses in summer. A host of Victorian murals are dotted throughout the park, speaking to a bygone era of the capital.

Clarendon Cross

Village-like Clarendon Cross is one of West London’s most coveted neighbourhood enclaves. Running between Portland Road, Clarendon Road and Hippodrome Place, pastel-toned period homes and independent boutiques make up the picturesque scene. This locale was the main-stage of London’s brickfields, potteries and piggeries in the early-19th century, before greengrocers, newsagents and dairies took to the buildings in the 20th century. Today, the you’ll find a host of independent businesses that cherish the area’s long-standing history.

Holland Park Open Air Opera

Holland Park was once the largest private garden in London, belonging to the estate of the Jacobean mansion, Cope Castle. Though the house suffered extensive damage during the Blitz, the ruins were then reimagined for public use. Today, the building is home to the Open Air Opera which is centred on a three-month summer performance.
