Based in Madrid and London, AMPS studio was formed in 2006 by managing partners Alberto Marcos Flores and Pablo Saiz Sánchez, who were then joined in 2008 by partner, Ignacio Aguado. They quickly gained a city-wide reputation and were selected as one of the 15 best emerging architecture firms in Madrid in 2009. Their manifesto puts a huge amount of emphasis on converting uncertainty into opportunity, relishing any chance to learn from past projects and experiment with new ideas. Notorious for their all-appreciative approach to design, whether that of a teaspoon or a university campus, these are architects who understand the importance of ingenuity, hard work and good humour. Ever resourceful, they aspire to create functional, beautiful living space wherever possible, out of whatever possible – be that wood, stone or air.
