An uber-cool cafe/shop at former hairdressing salon [Kell Skött] in North Kensington. Husband-and-wife team Kell and Jacqueline Skött’s contemporary Danish kitchen and deli specialises in authentic Danish cuisine. Expect house-cured herring, home-pickled beetroot, Iskilde bottled water from the Danish Lake Highlands and Smørrebrød, open sandwiches of dense, dark rye bread garnished with a number of colourful, leafy toppings. Drinks are super-healthy: a cup of kaffe can be sweetened not with sugar but liquorice, and even the alcoholic snaps is a lighter option than the usual glass of wine. The light-filled deli – which features a curated library of Danish books, minimalist crockery by designer Anne Black and charming mobiles by Flensted – is just the type of space we’d choose to start the day in.
