Though an island famed for its legendary nightlife, Ibiza’s north-coast beaches make a strong case for the more laid-back way of life.
A detailed tapestry of hidden coves, pristine sands and waters that shimmer every shade of blue – each beach here offers its own unique allure. Whether it’s chic and vibrant or secluded and serene. Alongside off-the-radar gems and authentic Ibicencan experiences, expect rugged cliffs, untouched coves and pristine beaches. Plus, some of the island’s ultimate snorkelling opportunities. Our favourite beaches in north Ibiza are perfect for those who want to begin the day with a sunrise and explore the Ibicencan way of life.

Best for authentic dining, Cala Boix
For something more secluded, the ashen-coloured sands of Cala Boix are a little-known jewel, found nowhere else on the island. Surrounded by ochre cliffs and verdant trees, it’s a picture of true northeast-coast authenticity. Treasured by locals and seldom busy, Restaurante Cala Boix is a secluded haven that’s perfect for a paella and has been run by the same family for over 40 years.

Best for unspoilt beauty, Cala Xuclar
Cala Xuclar’s horseshoe-shaped bay is a peaceful hideaway. Its raw nature, rustic fishing huts and impossibly clear waters offer yet more solitary tranquillity, while its quaint little chiringuito is idyllic for fresh fish.
Best for snorkelling, Cala Mastella
Cala Mastella’s sweet little cove is like a hidden oasis, with a smattering of sun loungers untouched and unspoilt by visitors. Stoney underfoot, it’s not so good for young children, but the water is crystal clear, making for excellent snorkelling. Perched right on the water’s edge, renowned restaurant El Bigotes serves up the fresh catch of the day, celebrating the island’s seafood heritage.

Best for families, Cala Llenya
Brimming with life and activity, but still overflowing with Ibicencan charm, Cala Llenya is the perfect salty playground for families. There’s something for everyone on this rustic stretch of sand, from stints aboard a pedalo to languid lounging and cocktails at Cala Llenya Bar.

Best for bohemian vibes, Cala Benirrás
Tranquil waters lap onto the shores of Cala Benirrás which has remained a real stronghold of the island’s former spirit and more than just a sun-soaked hideaway. It’s an emblem of the island’s bohemian soul, framed by rugged cliffs and lush pine forest. Known for its drumming rituals where rhythmic beats celebrate the setting sun, while drinks flow at the beautiful beach restaurant, Elements Ibiza.

Best for sunrise, Es Figueral
The shallow waters and jagged cliff-faces of Es Figueral are lit up by the morning light, with streaks of intense reds and blazing oranges illuminating the crags. Once the sun has risen, there’s a whole host of water sports for adventure-seekers, rocky outcrops for divers, and calm waters lapping the soft sand, perfect for children.

Best for wellness, Cala Xarraca
A day spent on Cala Xarraca will leave you feeling as though you’ve stumbled onto your own private patch of Ibiza. Rocky inlets and hollows filled with Posidonia seagrass are home to myriads of kaleidoscope fish. Split into two, the left side of the beach is home to small coves of high-quality mud, perfect for wellness fanatics wanting a full-body scrub.

Best for surfing, Cala Nova
An unspoilt arc of sand surrounded by pine-clad cliffs and rocky hillsides. Cala Nova’s waters shimmer all shades of blue, and are some of the best for surfing on the island. After catching waves, rest weary legs at the colourfully canopied Aiyanna where seafood excels, or see out the evening at Atzaró Beach for cocktails under the stars.
