The newly landscaped garden is as lush as the pine forest valley on the doorstep. Planted with mature papaya, passion fruit and fig trees, the villa’s grounds are arranged over different levels, meaning there’s space to escape and seek solitude in your own corner of utopia. Geometric blue tiles echo the turquoise of the pool. Follow the stepping-stones up to the cedar hot tub, or kick back in the super-sized day bed. Depending on your mood, there’s an inviting sun terrace and a shaded dining area, complete with barbecue, outdoor fireplace and a dining table for eight people.

Inside, picture windows flood the open-plan living room and kitchen with natural light. Wrapped in Portuguese marble and equipped with high-spec appliances, the keenest of cooks are catered for. As well as the Italian range cooker and double fridge, there’s a reverse osmosis machine for high-alkaline drinking water and an additional sparkling water machine. Easy access to the outside dining area makes entertaining a breeze.

Finca Verdor is a home for all seasons. In the colder months, fire up the wood burner in the living room and pull down the projector for cosy movie nights curled up on the sofa.

Two bedrooms are found on the ground floor, together with two bathrooms – one of which comes with a freestanding bathtub. Every detail has been considered, with sumptuous linens, mattresses and pillows selected for their quality. Neutral walls and terracotta floors bring a soothing simplicity, while blackout curtains help contribute to a restful night’s sleep.

The principal bedroom suite is accessed via an external staircase. An arched picture window frames showstopping views of the surrounding valley down to the sea. Soak up the vistas from the sun loungers on the large terrace.
