A lilac front door offers the first hint that this isn’t a typical Shepherd’s Bush terrace. Inside, Frithville Gardens turns out to be far from expected – three floors of contemporary interiors wear their period detail lightly and a private garden comes with a barrel sauna.

The ground floor sets up the social life of the house. An original Murano disc chandelier forms the centrepiece of the sitting room, where a large frame TV takes pride of place above the fireplace. Through a connecting doorway, the dining room continues the theme: another fireplace, a long table to gather around and doors that open straight out to the garden.
