The playful touch of this AJ 40 under 40 practice is easy to spot. Colourful, dynamic and beautifully crafted, their buildings are a joy to experience.

South-east-based Nimtim was the brainchild of architect Tim O’Callaghan and garden and landscape designer Nimi Attanayake. After Tim’s stints at OMA and David Chipperfield, he joined forces with Nimi, who previously worked at Penoyre & Prasad and Hawkins\Brown in 2014. Their fresh perspective and vibrant enthusiasm elevates their projects beyond traditional architecture into truly unique, uplifting and ergonomic spaces. The stories and lives of their clients resonate within each design, a testament to their co-creative approach. Beginning by asking questions, playing games and testing scenarios, each project is a journey that is informed by constant dialogue.

Borrowing from and responding to context, each space is unique and combine quirky colours, a juxtaposition of materials and thoughtful detailing for a richer, more adventurous architecture. From cork-clad homes to stacked brick and exposed structural timber extensions, their portfolio is as diverse as their material palette.
