Timber-lined living spaces, imaginative solutions and a hands-on, collaborative approach are the hallmarks of this young architectural practice.

Long-time friends Jody O’Sullivan and Amalia Skoufoglou set up O’Sullivan Skoufoglou Architects in 2016, creating responsive building that are functional and a pleasure to live in. Equipped with an almost innate understanding of materiality, light, landscape and form, the practice’s process involves large-scale models and mock-ups that trial their design, which often revolve around warm palettes, textured surfaces and bespoke joinery. And they’re clever, too. Their timber extension to Dewsbury Road – fabricated and pre-assembled in a family-run workshop – was designed to simply slot together on site.

Working across all scales, types and location, O’Sullivan Skoufoglou Architects dive deep into their client’s briefs to unlock the potential of their spaces and bring a new design to life. Other projects include the renovation of a North London townhouse, which saw the addition of a wood-clad hidden roof terrace and the refurbishment of a 1980s end-of-terrace house in Lewisham. Note the vast plywood-framed picture window.
