Specialising in the collection and sale of furniture and homeware by the most renowned Nordic designers of the 20th century, Modernity has established itself as one of the leading galleries in northern Europe.
Modernity is the brainchild of Scottish-born Andrew Duncanson and his Swedish husband Isaac Pineus. Driven by his love of Scandinavian craftmanship, design retailer Andrew took the leap and moved from Scotland to Sweden, establishing the Modernity Gallery in Stockholm in 1998. An opportunity to transform his hobby of collecting vintage designs into a business, Modernity quickly grew to become a recognised force in the world of collectible furniture, now with design fairs across Europe and in New York.
Besides maintaining their showroom in central Stockholm, Modernity has continuously supplied pieces to international collectors and museums; from the MoMA in New York, to the LACMA in Los Angeles and the National Museum in Stockholm. You can find Modernity’s gallery on the coveted Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill, giving the company a secure presence in the vibrant capital.
