Founded in East London, grafted is an emerging architecture practice redefining the relationship between design and making.

Led by architect Lemma Redda and project director Nicole Fassihi, the studio brings a hands-on approach to projects that span residential and commercial work across the UK.

Drawing on expertise in digital fabrication, joinery and precast concrete, the practice uses making as a design tool, developing architecture that is materially expressive, technically inventive and deeply rooted in the realities of construction. This ethos was established with Cast Corbel House, the studio’s first completed project and winner of a RIBA East Award, distinguished by its sculptural façade of hand-cast, red-pigmented concrete panels.

Working primarily within existing buildings, grafted approaches renovation and extension projects as opportunities for transformation rather than preservation alone. Their interventions balance contemporary living with a respect for context, producing spaces that feel both crafted and quietly ambitious. Whether reimagining a Victorian terrace, a rural dwelling or a central London penthouse, the practice brings a consistent focus on material quality, bespoke detailing and intelligent spatial planning.
