Creating high-end homes with a focus on material honesty, and refined detailing, London-based Ambient Studio is a grounded in careful consideration and a love of the tactile.
Founded in 2019, the studio works across sensitive transformations of period properties and quietly assured new-build houses – from tight urban infill and backland sites to landscape-led homes beyond the city – always attentive to context, proportion and atmosphere.
At the studio’s fore, timber, brick and mineral finishes, crafted thresholds and bespoke joinery, resolved with rigour and restraint. They take a retrofit-first mindset where appropriate, balancing character and longevity with contemporary clarity – designing spaces that feel composed, lived-in and enduring.
Led by founding director Matthew Riley (formerly of Amanda Levete Architects), Ambient Studio works alongside trusted specialist collaborators to develop and deliver architecture with precision, from initial conversations and early design studies through to on-site delivery.
