Synonymous with top-tier dining experiences, the Nobu name has been one of the most famous in its industry since the late eighties. It was only in 2013 that the first Nobu Hotel was opened, but spurred on by its roaring success, a slew of others, including one in Ibiza, have quickly followed suite…
This July, Nobu Shoreditch, the latest addition to the world-renowned Japanese restaurant empire and hotel group founded by Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper, has opened within the new Nobu Hotel Shoreditch, located in the centre of Shoreditch.
The stunning 240-seat restaurant lies at the heart of the building, spanning almost the entire footprint of the hotel and providing the ideal setting to enjoy genre-defining Nobu signature dishes, exquisite sushi, and Shoreditch-inspired menus and cocktails. For those wishing to witness the theatre and artistry of Nobu chefs in action there is the exclusive 10-seat sushi bar and an 18-seat chef’s table, with prime views of both the main kitchen and sushi chefs at work.
Designed by California-based Studio PCH, the restaurant features iconic Nobu aesthetics juxtaposed with a materiality that reflects the local area. The simple yet considered design includes a palette of concrete, bronze, rich oak timber and glass with warm textured textiles and a sleek wooden finish to create a cool and contemporary environment.
Overseen by Executive Chef Greg Seregi and Executive Sushi Chef Noriyoshi Teruya, the Nobu Shoreditch menu will feature many of Nobu’s signature dishes created 23 years ago, such as Black Cod with Miso and Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno, which have become synonymous with his restaurants, as well as distinctive new dishes inspired by the creativity and vibrancy of the local area. Exclusive Nobu Shoreditch menu items include: Hokaido Scallops with Foie Gras, Sautéed Japanese Mushrooms, Aji Matsuhisa & aged Balsamic Sea Bass with Yuzu Kosho, Tomato & Cucumber Salsa and Honey Truffle & Black Truffle Shavings
Nobu Shoreditch is also the first London Nobu to offer breakfast, with exclusive new dishes that share the ethos of the main menu, such as: Benedict Matsuhisa with Crab, Sauteed Spinach, Crispy Tofu & Shiso Bearnaise and Matcha Waffle with Chicken & Smoked Maple Ponzu
Dinner dazzles with acclaimed Nobu Style classics, locally-inspired exclusives and coursed Omakase tasting menus, while lunch provides the perfect escape with signature Bento Boxes, specially-created Donburi and Cold Soba Noodle dishes, available alongside the seasonal Osusume menu.
A destination cocktail bar greets guests descending the grand staircase into the restaurant and celebrates Nobu’s signature ‘East meets West’ philosophy. The bar also offers the only selection of Hokesetsu Sakes available in the UK, other than at Nobu’s two other London restaurants.
From the restaurant bar, guests enter the private courtyard via a five-meter-high glass wall which floods the space with natural daylight. The courtyard offers al-fresco dining in the warmer months with seating for up to 80 people within the partially-covered four level terraces.
