The King’s Road begins at the front door, its boutiques, cafés and restaurants stretching out in both directions – The Ivy Chelsea Garden is a few steps along, with Chelsea Old Town Hall close by. Eastward, the road runs down to the Saatchi Gallery and Duke of York Square, where the Saturday food market sits alongside the boutiques and the green of the square; beyond lies Sloane Square, with Peter Jones and the Royal Court Theatre. To the south, the streets fall away towards the Chelsea Physic Garden and the river at Chelsea Embankment, while the museums of South Kensington are a short distance north. Saturdays are best spent browsing the King’s Road, then down to the Thames for a walk along the water.
