Sitting at the intersection of contemporary design intelligence and traditional craftsmanship to form authentic and honest structures that are deeply personal.
Working across architecture, interiors and landscaping, Richard Parr Associates was set up by Richard Parr in 1994. Intrigued by Spain’s new wave architecture, where he worked for architect Guillermo Vásquez Consuegra Richard and ran the Madrid studio of London-based design consultants Fitch, specialising in the repurposing of historic structures came naturally. Projects are shaped by cultural references that resonate with their clients and brought to life with the use of honest materials, each infused with the modern traditional aesthetic on which the studio is founded.
At the core of Richard Parr Associates lies a profound and empathetic understanding of the ways that people want to live their lives; cutting-edge technology and artistry embed structures with a sense of modern luxury and comfort with minimal impact on the environment. Collaborating with a network of trusted craftspeople, makers, contractors and conservation specialists, their projects bring integrity and design clarity to both urban and rural settings. Projects include a medieval country house upgraded for the 21st century and the transformation of a series of 19th century farm buildings into a range of adaptable, contemporary work spaces for the studio’s Cotswold’s branch.
