Across the ground level of a mansion block in the heart of Holland Park, this expansive apartment counters heritage with a more contemporary point of view. Design studio McQuin Partnership has reworked the interiors with a careful hand – original architecture is updated with modern detail.
Inside, ceilings rise to over three metres, traced with decorative plasterwork that carries through two reception rooms. Each lounge is generous in scale: light pools through wide bay windows, while the floorplan is large enough to socialise or spread out. Set adjacent, the bespoke-designed kitchen feels practical and considered. Grey wood cabinetry is offset with brass detailing, while a suite of integrated appliances – Gaggenau and Miele – keeps culinary ventures running smoothly. A round rosewood dining table sits by the window, overlooking the garden.
Two bedrooms are bright and convivial, the guest room served by a considered shower room. The principal suite is particularly well resolved. Two bathrooms offer different modes of use: one anchored by a freestanding tub, the other by a walk-in shower with a fold-down bench. Elsewhere, a dedicated dressing room links through to the garden beyond.
It’s the garden that sets the home apart: a communal setting that enjoys privacy thanks to sole access through the apartment. Mature trees and layered planting create a sense of enclosure, with a lawn that stretches out and around the building.
