Part of the 19th-century additions to the historic Gunter Estate, Redcliffe Square captures Victorian elegance at its most distinctive – a sweep of yellow brick façades and leafy garden squares. Set on the lower-ground floor of a handsome townhouse, this two-bedroom apartment has been reimagined spatially smart design, courtesy of architect Ryan von Ruben and interior designer Christina Forsberg.
Inside, the palette turns soft and contemporary – oak underfoot, natural textures and light that spills across neutral walls. The hallway draws you through to a dramatic seven-metre-high library wall fitted with a bespoke ladder – a sculptural feature that centres the plan.
Beyond, the open-plan kitchen, dining and reception room reveals a host of flawless design credentials. The kitchen captures attention with bespoke floor-to-ceiling cabinets, integrated with sleek Siemens appliances. The central island features smooth worktops, plus a well-considered attached breakfast bar and desk area. There’s underfloor heating throughout, keeping the space cosy year-round.
Sliding glass doors blur the boundary between inside and out, opening to a secluded patio garden. With ceramic tiles underfoot, and an established green wall of jasmine, clematis and Acer trees, it’s a completely private spot to make the most of sunny days. An additional internal patio doubles as a lightwell, drawing daylight deep into the interior.
The principal bedroom suite continues the home’s serene character – six full-height wardrobes, soft neutrals and bespoke aluminium ‘Venetian’ blinds that function as high-level security bars. The marble-clad en suite pairs a Lusso Stone bathtub with a dual vanity and tailored cabinetry. The guest bedroom echoes the same understated elegance, opening to the lightwell and served by a sleek shower room finished in marble and glass.
