With its cliffside location and sunrise and sunset views, Villa Selva feels at one with nature. A place to switch off, architect John Brevard has brought the outside in at this secluded villa surrounded by trees. Through the branches, the ocean takes centre stage. A series of scenic chill-out areas descend directly to the waves. Or soak up the setting from the panoramic heated pool.

Complete privacy is assured here, with sleeping accommodation spread between the main building and three casitas. Throughout, the design is contemporary with a rustic twist. Calming tones mirror the colours of the landscape, while wall-to-wall glazing means you can pan in on the horizon. The walls appear to dissolve in the main living and dining space, where traditional beams and smooth polished concrete create a fusion of old and new. A wide, open space to congregate in, it comes with a table that comfortably seats 10.

The adjoining kitchen is just as inviting, with a large picture window that frames the garden beyond. For keen chefs, the Smeg appliances and alkaline water system should appeal; or allow us to arrange your own housekeeper and cook to take care of every detail.

Bedrooms are pared-back and tactile, allowing the ocean and garden vistas to come to the fore. Raw plaster and organic curves form a neutral backdrop for more vibrant touches – like the bright contemporary artwork throughout. The standout principal suite is a lesson in space, featuring its own fireplace and seating area. The casita bedrooms offer even more seclusion – one comes with its own private entry, kitchenette and office. Directly above, kickstart the day at the outdoor gym, complete with a sauna, plunge pool and seating area amid the trees. When you want to reconnect, there’s also a ceremonial and yoga area.

Dotted around the grounds, a trio of rooftop decks are positioned to soak up the sunrises and sunsets. The terrace atop the main house features three outdoor dining tables, a grill and a bar for memorable al fresco evenings. Or for cosier nights, tune out with movie marathons courtesy of two Apple TVs.
