Architecture

A RIBA-credited practice that pushes the boundaries of design-led living with an unparalleled creative energy that reflects the metropolis in which it works.

No project is too complex for Sophie Nguyen Architects. Beautiful, spacious and noble spaces are artfully formed and engaging buildings are born of their purpose, their context and their constraints. Cooperative relationships are at the heart of this studio’s work. Alongside constant discussion with their clients, they collaborate with a trusted circle of consultants and tradespeople from design and planning to construction and completion. Helmed by Sophie Nguyen, who worked at the likes of Ibos-Vitart Architect in Paris and Rogers-Stirk-Harbour + Partners in London before opening her eponymous firm in 2003.

The practice is known for their spacious, light and colourful schemes that are contemporary in design but joyfully eclectic in character. Have a look at her Plantroom project, where a new glass extension grants a seamless connection between indoors and outdoors inside which a red kitchen island hovers and an indoor jungle flourishes. Elsewhere in west London, Sophie Nguyen Architects were called upon to refurbish the lower ground floor of a house in Notting Hill, where a new scarlet, timber staircase adds a dramatic effect.
