ON THE GROVE
Ladbroke Grove, W11
Located in an iconic post-war block on Ladbroke Grove, this home is an absolute beauty. Built in 1959 by architects Andrews, Emerson and Sherlock, Hillcrest is positioned on Ladbroke Grove in arguably the area’s best location, between Holland Park, Clarendon Cross and Notting Hill.
The penthouse apartment with its far-reaching west London views was bought by its owners, De Rosee Sa Architects, only recently. Their goal was to take on a project they could completely renovate and transform, both architecturally and design-wise. The result is a superb lateral home measuring more than 1,100 sq ft that provides the utmost luxury and a rare lifestyle opportunity. Elegant throughout, design touches include herringbone wood floors, vintage-style furniture and an enchanting colour palette of soft neutrals and smokey blues. Rather than designing a home with shock value or flamboyance, De Rosee Sa has created a property to be lived in, offering versatility and sophistication that feels truly special.
At its centre is a vast, open-plan reception that occupies half the property. As soon as you walk in, you are hit by the amount of space and light, thanks to a 36ft wall of glass windows that unifies the indoor space and the sun terrace lining the side. With manicured boxed shrubs and flora, the balcony is a delight in summer and beautiful to look at from the two lounge areas and kitchen. The entire space is exceptionally sociable, suited to relaxed Sunday hosting at the kitchen table or evening drinks with friends.
The master bedroom suite is beautifully laid out with grand double doors leading to an en suite with inset limestone bath, separate walk-in shower and limestone floors. The second bedroom is stylish and bright, thanks to new skylights and a second decked balcony on the other side of the home. There is also a separate shower room. Completing this masterpiece is access to both Hanover and Ladbroke Square communal gardens.
