INNER INDULGENCE

Holland Park, W11

When we first stepped inside this house, we almost forgot that we had just entered a private home rather than one of the world’s smartest hotels. Everything about this property was considered and beautifully styled. The dining room was a study in elegance with its deep violet hues, velvet chairs and glossy contemporary table. The light installation looked more like a work of art than something that simply illuminated a room.

Beyond was the kitchen which provided a more casual dining area and space enough to cater for a discerning crowd of dinner party guests. With state-of-the-art Miele appliances and deep Corian worktops, this was a chef’s kitchen – as functional as it was aesthetically pleasing.

The living room was clearly designed for entertaining. Also featuring the deep violet hues of the dining area, the wrap-around sofa configuration invited conversation, while the bar lent a louche air to proceedings.

The master bedroom, spanning an incredible 28 feet in width, was truly indulgent. Expert lighting design gave atmosphere, while the seating area was clearly designed for deep relaxation. Three sets of double doors led onto the balcony beyond. A generously sized walk-in wardrobe and a study completed the master suite.

The secondary bedrooms were just as impressive. Lavishly lit, beautifully furnished and with heaps of storage space, either could have been the master bedroom. The bathrooms throughout were almost spa-like; we particularly liked the one with the clear glass panel. We also appreciated the detail that went into this flat, whether it was the thick oak doors, the designer ironmongery or the strategically placed uplighters.

If this was hotel chic, then it was hotel chic at its very best. We’d have been happy to check in any time.

This property was conveniently located for the green open spaces of Holland Park and the shopping at Westfield. The nearest Underground station is Holland Park (Central line).
